Nashville 5×09 If Tomorrow Never Comes preview

Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) had the day from hell on the latest episode of Nashville and she may not make it out alive.

The singer’s stalker Carl Hockney (Linds Edwards) tested the limits of his restraining order by hanging around outside her home. After stopping off to see Clay (Joseph David-Jones) perform, Rayna called by the Highway 65 offices and found herself trapped in her office with Carl.

Armed with a knife, Carl claimed that he didn’t want to hurt Rayna insisting he just wanted to talk to her. He opened up about his troubled childhood and told Rayna how she helped him through it but became angry when he realised Rayna was telling him what he wanted to hear. After catching her trying to call the police, Carl pursued Rayna and a tense stand-off took place.

Rayna left the incident unharmed but shaken. She called Deacon (Charles Esten) on the way home but their call was cut short when a truck collided with the police car she was in.

Meanwhile Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) faced tough opposition from the gospel choir at Hallie’s (Rhiannon Giddens) church when she asked them to collaborate with her on a gospel album. She also managed to upset Avery (Jonathan Jackson) by offering a critique on his new song.

Elsewhere Daphne (Maisy Stella) was humiliated when she got her period and Maddie (Lennon Stella) called Rayna to help her and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) broke up with Gunnar (Sam Palladio), immediately jumping into bed with Damien (Christian Coulson).

The next episode of the season is If Tomorrow Never Comes. After her life-changing experience, Rayna scrambles to write one more song for the concept album with Deacon. Julietteā€™s leg starts to hurt inexplicably. Gunnar fights for Scarlett.
