Manilla PR hosted its own Save 6 Music Gig at 93 Feet East which featured eight artists who all appeared on the stations playlist over the last year. Headlining the gig were Goldheart Assembly and Ian McNabb (Icicle Works) along with I Like Trains, We Rock Like Girls Don't, Red Track, Shabby Rogue, Isa And The Filthy Tongues and Alexander Price.

And so this album is the official cd from the gig comprising of songs from these artists and a whole host of others lending their support to 6 Music.

Tracks such as Ian McNabb's glassy ballad New Light are mixed against rockier tunes like Red Track's Pole Dancer. There's also the beautiful Moons A Goon from Isa And The Filthy Tongues who garnered rave reviews from 6 Music's Lauren Laverne. Shabby Rogue's twangy My Life As A Secret Agent gives a nice injection of 60s guitar fuzzyness.

Along with the featured artists are also songs by The Lights with the excellent Low Hundreds with its catchy pop folk overtures, the loungey and smokey Always  Had A Dream by Rodina and the hugely talented Jo Hamilton's There It Is to name but a few.

A bonus track, Selfish Bass by Diarmaid O'Meara closes the album on a fuzzy techno note to keep everyone on their toes.

This is an excellent album from all the featured artists showcasing their best tracks along with a host of others than embodies and encompasses the true spirit of 6 Music and not only the musicians who've benefitted from the station's existance but also artists who are up and coming and support the station wholeheartedly.
