Valentine’s Day is one of the most hotly anticipated films of 2010. Featuring an all-star cast including Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel and Jamie Foxx, the movie is set to be one of the year’s biggest success stories. As everyone knows a successful movie needs an equally successful soundtrack and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Featuring 18 tracks, a mixture of old and new, the soundtrack looks set to storm the charts across the globe and spawn a few successful singles.

Opening with Today Was A Fairy Tale, one of two new songs from Taylor Swift, the soundtrack kicks off to a romantic and poppy start. This feeling continues throughout the soundtrack and touches on reggae with Michael Franti and Spearhead’s Say Hey (I Love You), shimmers a little jazz on Jools Holland and Jamiroquai’s I’m In The Mood For Love and even gets Amy Winehouse feeling a sun-drenched reggae beat on Cupid. Elsewhere on the album Joss Stone seduces your ears with the slinky 4 and 20, the bird and the bee give us their unique take on I’m Into Something Good and Ben E. King takes us back with Amor.

The highlight on the record is the new Jewel song, and lead US single, Stay Here Forever. Known for her folksy introspective songs, Stay Here Forever sees Jewel put aside her personal reflections and embrace the feeling of love. The song radiates with happiness and warmth and is Jewel’s best single for a few years. It’s not hard to see why it was chosen as the lead single and serves as a nice introduction to Jewel’s forthcoming album. The other standout on the album is the sexy electro-pop of Gossip Girl Leighton Meester’s collaboration with Robin Thicke. The song shimmers with sex and Meester’s spoken-word vocals sound fantastic.

Valentine’s Day has smash hit written all over it and the strength of this soundtrack should see it’s popularity last well beyond its theatrical release. If you like your music with a slice of class and a lot of romance then this is the record for you. Don’t you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
