Tiffany Page - Tuesday 19th January - Relentless Garage

London born Tiffany Page moved to Zimbabwe when she was one and lived there for five years. Amazingly she says she can’t remember ever not hearing music in the family home and by the time she was two she could memorise any song after hearing it once and sing it back. Fast forward 15 years and her passion for music seems to have remained intact. The 23 year old is about to release her new single Walk Away Slow in March followed by her debut album later in the year.

Tuesday night Page played Relentless Garage and treated her audience to a few songs from her album. EF was there for a first glimpse and here is our verdict.

Page seemed nervous at first and even admitted ‘this is terrifying’ but a few songs in and the whole audience was captivated by this young woman. It’s easy to tell that Tiffany Page hasn’t had much experience performing live but that didn’t really affect her performance or distract us from the music.

First thing that struck us about Page was her voice that has been resonating in our heads ever since we heard it. A cross between Alannah Myles or call it a female version of Caleb Followill (Kings of Leon) Page’s husky tone struck a cord with us. Walk Away Slow Page’s first single is old school rock and reminded us a bit of Hole or the Four None Blondes. It’s a good song but hearing the rest of the set it’s a surprising choice for a first single when other songs sounded far catchier.

Highlights of the evening included a great and steamy performance of I Hope He Doesn’t Know and Heaven Ain’t Easy. Playing With Fire was also a favourite and put an end to the night.

Tiffany Page performed for little over 30 minutes and seemed to wow the crowd who was moving closer and closer to the stage. Aside from nerves there doesn’t seem to be much keeping Page from well deserved success. Obviously her music is still very raw and will still grow and shape and hopefully will have time to the so. Before getting there we’d never heard of Tiffany Page and now we are converts to the sound.
