Speakerpeople are Andy Paterson, Simon Newman and vocalist Julian Asher Dean. This soulful house trio was born out of sessions over the last year at Deep Recording studios London. Parallel World is their first album and here is what EF had to say.
Close Your Eyes is a great start to Speakerpeople’s new album. This soulful house track slowly builds up and makes you feel like you should be chilling at some bar on an exotic Mediterranean island. It’s bliss even more so Julian Asher Dean’s vocals add a different dimension to the track.
Equally as soulful is Fall From Grace which speeds up the pace of the album something we need at this point.
Next up No One Before has a jungle vibe to it, which makes this one a great track for the clubs. No One Before is the most interesting song on the album with all its little twists and turns the song keeps on evolving and changing from dance to house to jungle. Eight minutes may be pushing it but actually we rather enjoy this little gem.
Highlights on the album include Nothing with its distorted Kanye West-like vocals and retro sound. Tomorrow’s (dub mix) sounds better then the original and makes for an excellent club track.
Speakerpeople are definitely ones who know how to build up sound. All the tracks on Parallel World sound distinctive and yet at the same time you can hear Speakerpeople’s undeniable talent and sound. We are not sure that this kind of music would sustain itself though and think that it works best as a nice relaxing background sound.
