Pink has had one of the most successful years of her career in 2009. Her album Funhouse has sold millions across the world and she’s being relentlessly touring for the best part of the year. Her Funhouse tour has been across the globe and back and just in time for Christmas Pink is releasing a DVD of one of her Australia dates.
From the opening number Bad Influence, where Pink jumps out of a box into the air to the closing encore performance of Glitter In The Air, Pink thoroughly entertains with her theatrical show. With the stage dressed like a circus and decked out with burlesque dancers and clowns, Pink runs through hits from her latest record Funhouse as well as her impressive and expansive back catalogue. Of course for good measure there are some covers in the mix too including a brave performance of the Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody and a rather saucy version of I Touch Myself.
Of course it’s Pink’s own material that shines during the two hour show. A stirring rendition of the fantastic Ave Mary A is an early highlight as is the acoustic mid-section of the setlist where Pink gets the opportunity to really show off her vocals. Live favourite Family Portrait goes down a real storm and showcases the power in Pink’s voice. The show highlight goes to Sober. Featuring Pink performing trapeze acts whilst singing live, the audience hold their breath as she hurtles across the stage. The performance is spectacular and highlights the reason why Pink is one of the world’s greatest live performers.
Bonus features on the release include a behind-the-scenes documentary On Tour With Pink, a blooper reel and a featurette How To Shred The Gnar. There are also two bonus tracks in the shape of One Foot Wrong and It’s All Your Fault.
Pink – Funhouse Tour: Live In Australia captures an artist in her element. Taking risks, having fun and sounding incredible vocally, Pink ticks every box. A true show-woman Pink is simply incredible to witness live. If you saw the tour then you’ll enjoy this DVD as a momento. If you haven’t seen it check out what you missed and then buy tickets to see her on her stadium dates next year.
