Peter Andre surprised us all in 2009. Not only did he finally see the light and end his relationship with glamour model Katie Price, he also released a brand new studio album in the shape of Revelation. The album went on to be a huge success achieving platinum certification and Andre soon announced a tour (which sold out very quickly). Half way through the campaign for that album Andre is launching a new album just in time for Valentine's Day - Unconditional Love Songs.

Unconditional Love Songs is part greatest-hits, part new material. Over the album's 16 tracks Andre has selected the most romantic songs from his back catalogue (including three from 2009’s Revelation) and mixed them in with some new cover versions of classic tracks. Opening with the title track Unconditional, a recent single for Andre, the album immediately reintroduces you to Andre’s powerful voice. Along the way he revisits his duet with Brian McKnight, Rest of My Life, from 1997 album Time, the piano-led All Cried Out from 2004’s The Long Road and the seductive I Feel You from 1996’s Natural. Each song on Unconditional Love Songs showcases Andre’s sensitive side and serves a reminder of the strength of some of his best material.

The cover versions on the album include the Michael Jackson classic She's Out Of My Life, Robin Thicke's Lost Without U and I Can’t Make You Love Me. These songs allow Andre to showcase the range in his voice and the hushed soul of Lost Without U is a complete contrast to the restrained power he shows on I Can’t Make You Love Me. If there was ever any doubt that Andre had the vocal chops to make it in the music industry, then these songs eradicate that. Each of the covers sits nicely alongside Andre’s own material and makes for an impressively cohesive album.

Unconditional Love Songs is a solid collection of contemporary pop and R&B-tinged songs. Andre is often not given credit for the strength of his powerful and soulful voice. There's no denying that he can sing and at times his delivery is reminiscent of a young Michael Jackson.
