This soundtrack features the score from the entertaining fantasy drama currently wowing audiences in cinemas. Bear in mind that Keisha and Lady Gaga don’t appear on this collection as a result which could be a disadvantage to some fans. If the film is a success I’m sure a collection of tracks from Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief will be released.
The score is epic and magical and really does well to transport the viewer into the fantastical realms of Percy Jackson. There are elements of Spielberg-inspired grandeur with some of the tracks and there is a distinct 80’s vibe to the classic scores. This feels like ET or Indiana Jones incidental music and that’s no bad thing. Particular highlights include Prelude with its dramatic opening tone, Hydra with its call of arms anthemic structure and End Credits seems to encapsulate the mythos of the film perfectly with a reflective and emotive number.
Christophe Beck has crafted a strong score that fully matches the aspirations of the film. It feels epic in every sense and will leave you feeling like you’ve stepped into Percy Jackson’s shoes. For a score to evoke such strong feelings, Beck is clearly onto a winner here.
