Parov Stelar feat. Marvin Gaye – Keep on Dancing single review

Parov Stellar are back with a brand new single featuring soul legend Marvin Gaye. Keep On Dancing is taken from the band’s new album The Art of Sampling and is a stylish funk-house remake of Gaye’s seventies disco hit Got To Give It Up. The track features the soul star’s vocals and Parov Stelar’s Marcus said: ‘It was a long discussion but they got it, they understood it, and eventually they thought it was great. That was a great honor. Motown’s history is holy work and Marvin Gaye is god.’ We listened to the single and here are our thoughts.

The single kicks off with a typical disco bass line but that is probably the only link to that era. Keep On Dancing sounds futuristic and nostalgic all at the same time with the help of synths. Once the funky guitar kicks in during the second verse the song starts to gain real shape and is rather groovy. The chorus is nostalgic and has an anthem vibe about itself. Then before you know it the track is already finished.

Keep On Dancing is a short single with rather interesting remixes which will go down well in clubs. As for the radio edit we feel like it’s missing a bit of variation, as it feels a bit bland. We like the idea behind this track however feel that the radio edit finishes too soon and before getting interesting. The club edit is probably more entertaining and would make a better single.
