It’s been two years since we last had a Kylie single and in our books that two years too long. Last we heard from the wonderful Ms. Minogue, she was re-recording some of her classic hits for The Abbey Road Sessions. Now she’s back in a big way with new single Into The Blue, new album Kiss Me Once and her show-stealing turn as a coach on The Voice UK. Is the country ready to go Kylie mad again?
It’s been almost two months since Into The Blue leaked and we’re a little worried about how it’s going to perform in the charts. The long wait between leak and release will no doubt harm the single’s success and we can’t help but feel that if it has been released as soon as it was leaked the song may have soared straight to the top of the charts.
The reality is we’re in the situation we’re in so will Kylie be scoring a massive hit? Well Into The Blue isn’t the most immediate of Kylie singles but it has a certain charm that grows on you the more you hear it. There’s something undeniable about Kylie’s appeal and hearing her distinctive voice always makes us feel a little warm and fuzzy. Musically the song is like an update of All The Lovers with more of a Fever-like pop injection into it. Kylie’s vocals sound gorgeous and the lucious instrumentation give it an epic feel throughout.
We have everything crossed that Into The Blue can be a big hit for Kylie but as we type this she’s only at number 15 in the iTunes chart. Either way we think the parent album Kiss Me Once will conquer the charts next week but it would be nice to welcome our favourite pop princess back with a smash-hit.
