Cheryl is back in the public eye in a big way this year thanks to her triumphant return to the charts and to The X Factor. The Geordie singer scored her fourth solo number one this summer when Crazy Stupid Love featuring Tinie Tempah shot to the top of the charts. Since the success of that song she’s been back on our screens every weekend as a judge on The X Factor sat once again with Simon Cowell. Cheryl has now released her new single I Don’t Care which is taken from her fourth studio album Only Human, released next week.
I Don’t Care was co-written with John Newman, Bonnie McKee and Jocke Ahlun, and sees Cheryl is an uptempo devil-may-care attitude. The songs cyclical electro-beat provides the backing whilst Cheryl’s distinctive tones deliver the melody building into a middle finger salute to all of her critics. The song has a positive message about getting on with your life without caring what everyone has to say about you; no one ones how important that is than Cheryl who has had more media scrutiny than most in the last few years.
Tonight Cheryl will perform I Don’t Care for the first time live on The X Factor results show. We can already predict the haters coming out in force to claim Cheryl a) mimed b) can’t sing or c) is talentless. Fortunately for Cheryl she’s already proven her critics wrong multiple times and I Don’t Care is a fitting answer back to those who have nothing but hate to share about the singer. Personally we too don’t care what anyone else has to say about Cheryl – if you don’t like her stop putting so much energy into talking about her. We love Cheryl, we love this single and we can’t wait for Only Human.
