Robbie Williams clinches UK’s 1000th no 1 album

Robbie Williams achieved a historic Official Album Chart milestone tonight clinching the UK’s 1000th number one album.

Swings Both Ways crashed into the charts at number 1 today giving Robbie yet another smash hit to add to his long list. The charts have been going for 57 years and it was Frank Sinatra who was the UK’s first ever number one album with Songs For Swingin’ Lovers.

Robbie told OfficialCharts.com; ā€œI am over the moon that ā€˜Swings Both Waysā€™ is Number One! And such an honour to be the 1000th album in that spot, following Frank Sinatra ā€“ who was the first person to top the Official Album Chart, and my hero. Thanks to everyone who bought the record ā€“ see you all on the tour next year!ā€

During his career to date Robbie has sold over 55 million albums worldwide and has drawn with Elvis by scoring 11 Official Albums Chart solo number ones.
