Kylie video poll numbers 5 to 1 announced

This week sees the release of the eagerly anticipated new album ‘Kiss Me Once’ from pop royalty Ms Kylie Minogue.  What more of an excuse do we need to have our very own Kylie week here at EF.

Yesterday we counted down your favourite Kylie videos from 10 to 6 which included Kylie donning a bright pink spacesuit, taking over soho and of course dancers in weird costumes – they are Kylie videos after all! Now we’ll reveal the top 5 and analyse which eras were the best for Kylie visuals.

5. Slow

Director:  Baillie Walsh
UK Chart peak: 1
Taken from the album:  Body Language
Interesting Fact:  This video was shot in one take at Barcelona’s famous outdoor swimming pool that overlooks the city.  ‘Slow’ remains Kylie’s only self-penned no.1 UK hit to date.

4. Did It Again

Director:  Pedro Romanhi
UK Chart peak: 14
Taken from the album:  Impossible Princess
Interesting Fact:  It was video director Pedro idea to have the various Kylies after he saw an article mentioning all the different incarnations and labels that Kylie has had.

3. What Do I Have To Do

Director:  Dave Hogan
UK Chart peak: 6
Taken from the album:  Rhythm Of Love
Interesting Fact:  The video features a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from little sister Dannii but you might not recognise her in her short blonde bob wig

2. Can’t Get You Out Of My Head

Director:  Dawn Shadforth
UK Chart peak: 1
Taken from the album:  Fever
Interesting Fact:  Even though the video is very futuristic, the car that Kylie is seen driving at the beginning is in fact a De Tomaso Mangusta which is an Italian sports car produced between 1967 – 1971.

1. All The Lovers

Director:  Joseph Kahn
UK Chart peak: 3
Taken from the album:  Aphrodite
Interesting Fact:  The video picked up on the technology of the day and features a QR code on the coffee cup at the beginning that when scanned gave the word ‘Love’.

The Stats

Winning video ‘All The Lovers’ received just over 10% of all votes, with 2001’s ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ taking the runner up spot with 7%.  The top 10 features videos from half of Kylie’s 12 albums with new single ‘Into The Blue’ just missing out on the top 10 at joint 13th spot.  With two videos each in the top 10 it seems that ‘Fever’, ‘Aphrodite’ and ‘Rhythm of Love’ have the best visuals.  ‘What Do I Have To Do’ was the highest charting SAW era video at no.3 with ‘Better The Devil You Know’ the oldest video in the top 10.  Nice to see 2012’s one-off single ‘Timebomb’ sitting pretty at no.6 on our countdown.  It takes the honour for most recent video in the top 10.

Out of the 57 videos to choose from, 10 received no votes and it seems that you’re not a fan of her duet videos with ‘Especially For You’, ‘Kids’ and most recent duet ‘Limpido’ not getting a single vote.  The album that had the best ranking over all was ‘Fever’ with all four singles in the top 20 vidoes.  Surprisingly, one of Kylie’s most famous videos, ‘Spinning Around’, which gave the world those gold hotpants, was joint 15th on the countdown.

Thanks for all your votes!

Join us tomorrow when we look at a lesser talked about side of Kylie Minogue.
