Jason Manford signs with Decca to release A Different Stage

Jason Manford has signed a deal with Decca Records to release his debut album A Different Stage on 6th October.

The comedian and actor, who has appeared in stage musicals such as The Producers and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, has recorded a collection of show tunes that are close to his heart including On the Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady, Hushabye Mountain from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Stars from Les MisƩrables and The Impossible Dream from the 1965 hit Broadway musical Man of La Mancha.

Manford began his career in musical theatre five years ago in the Olivier Award-winning Sweeney Todd.

About the album Manford says: ā€œI feel so incredibly lucky to have been asked to record this album especially with a respected record company like Decca ā€“ what are they playing at?!! From singing with my Nanaā€™s band as a young boy to appearing in huge musical productions, I’ve loved singing for as long as I can remember. It’s been a treat to perform my favourite songs and itā€™s been great to share some of the experience along the way with many of my fans on Facebook. Their support and both my Nanaā€™s passion for music has led to this momentous moment in my life. Hope you like it.ā€

Tom Lewis, Director of A&R at Decca, says: ā€œEveryone knows Jason for his incredibly successful TV and comedy career, but what is less known is what extraordinary success heā€™s had on stage as a singer, and weā€™re delighted to be showcasing his voice on this wonderful new album.ā€

As well as his album, Manford hosts ITV game show Bigheads and has a weekly radio show on Absolute Radio. He will embark on his Muddle Class comedy tour in 2018.
