EF’s Underdogs: River Matthews top 90s music videos

River Matthews is  no stranger to music, having performed cover songs in local pubs in his youth and choosing a career in musical therapy.

Most recently he has been working with Jamie Scott and supported Rag’n’Bone Man on his tour. Matthews’ latest EP, Sunshine is out now and already receiving critical acclaim.

River Matthews was kind enough to share his favourite 90s music videos and you can find out what they are below.

10. Bj̦rk РAll is Full of Love

Ahhh this tune is just INCREDIBLE! She’s a genius, and this beautiful video belongs with the song.

9. Sinéad O’Connor – Nothing Compares to you

Timeless song and video… simply beautiful.

8. Jamiroquai – Virtual Insanity

Cool as fuck! Still!

7. Oasis – Whatever

Epic tune. Hero’s of youth. And definitely maybe my favourite video of theirs. Yeah, whatever.

6. Natalie Imbruglia – Torn

Such a great tune! But I probably chose the video because you get to watch Natalie Imbruglia for 4 minutes.

5. Pulp – Common People

Jarvis might have been cooler than most people around at that time, but you don’t realise till 20 years later. Even if he isn’t, the song’s he wrote were pretty amazing, and this vid is spot on Jarvis!

4. Deee-Lite – Groove Is In The Heart

It’s fun and a little bit stupid! Fake Fur!

3. Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby

The song would have been nothing without the dance. So you need the video! Boom!

2. Daft Punk – Around The World

Couldn’t find the video on Daft Punk’s page for this banger, but I’m pretty sure this was it! So cool!

(the video is by French director Michel Gondry)

1. Weezer – Buddy Holly

Happy Days Man!

You can listen to River Matthews’ Sunshine EP on Spotify and his official website.
