Two CD collection First Ladies of Country is being released by Sony Music Entertainment on 2nd March 2015.
Spanning over 50 years, the release features classics from legends such as Patsy Cline, June Carter Cash, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gayle and Tammy Wynette along with modern stars such as Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson and Sara Evans.
Talking about the collection Bob Harris says, “Now, almost a century after their first pioneering Country releases, Sony Music have compiled this selection of tracks, celebrating the work of some of the strongest, most successful and creative female performers in the history of the genre – pioneers, icons, songwriters and modern day superstars.”
Other artists to feature on the collection include breakthrough acts First Aid Kit and Maddie & Tae as well as icons such as Loretta Lynn, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris.
