Music icon and actor David Bowie has died at the age of 69 it has been confirmed.
The sad news was confirmed on the star’s official Twitter account today. The star had been battling cancer for the last 18 months and the media had been speculating about his health for a long time.

Bowie’s son Duncan Jones, director of the critically-acclaimed Moon, confirmed that his father had died in a tweet on his own account:

No other details have been released about Bowie’s death at this time. His former wife Angie is currently in the Celebrity Big Brother house and it’s unclear if she may leave once she is informed of the news.
Bowie rose to fame with hits such as Space Oddity, Starman, Life on Mars? and Ashes to Ashes. He also found success as an actor with roles in The Man Who Fell to Earth, Labyrinth and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. He released his latest album Blackstar on Friday.
