Christmas Gift Guides – Holiday season parties

Christmas is upon us and shortly after that New Years Eve. 2014 has been a long year and for some NYE is the time to celebrate, end the year in style or for some its the opportunity to start afresh.

Ahead of the festivities we’re helping you pick the perfect presents for family and friends  and after all the eating and boozing why not give a friend tickets to a great party that they’ll remember for years to come.

At Christmas it’s essential to have a plan to burn off the calories and the following parties will guarantee a good workout.

Bon Sinclar at Ministry of Sound

The festive season tends to start earlier and earlier each year and its no different this year with parties kicking off as early as November (!). Fear not we are not going to bully you with such nonsense but there is a fair bit to do ahead of Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Legendary club Ministry of Sound will welcome French legend Bob Sinclar onto the decks for a great night.

Bob Sinclar is set play Ministry of Sound for a very special end of year appearance following his road blocked session at the club in July. Saturday Sessions is pleased to welcome the return of the French DJ extraordinaire on December 20th for a rare appearance in London, where he will be delivering his seamless blend of vocal, instrumental and intense rhythmic tracks.

Tickets are on sale now on Ministry’s website.

Cream at Nation

Sometimes the party starts a little early right? This year why not try Cream’s Boxing Day party at Nation in Liverpool, which is set to be spectacular.Kicking things off is a Dutch superhero who needs little introduction, Laidback Luke, fresh off the back of his Super You&Me UK tour, expect some future house fusions in the Main Room, he will be joined by fellow Dutchman and highly prestigious DJ/Producer Dannic he is a force to be reckoned with, already signed to Hardwell’s Revealed label and with an arsenal of productions already under his belt, it’s no wonder he’s one of the biggest climbers in this year’s DJ Top 100 poll, another climber is Ummet Ozcan, up 68 places from last year and sitting pretty at 31, his unique and innovative sound has garnered him a huge global fan base, from his 2011 #1 hit Reboot and smash hit The Box, famed for co-productions with the likes of R3hab and Nervo, he also remixed Fatboy Slim’s global hit Eat Sleep Rave Repeat in collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Completing the line-up we welcome back Brighton’s triumphant big room maestro Tim Mason, along with Harrison who will be making his Cream debut.

Tickets are on sale now.

Eastern Electrics at Studio 338

Eastern Electrics are notorious for their amazing parties and what better night to get acquainted to the underground promoters but NYE and this year you can enjoy one of their famous parties at London super club Studio 338 in Greenwich.

On 31st December Studio 338 will welcome on the decks the likes of Agoria, Cassy, Geddes, Matthias Tanzmann and Route 94. With a consistently modern approach to electronic music, the Eastern Electrics crew proudly presents an NYEE special that combines new talent with established icons of the scene, bringing together forward-thinking sounds and world-class technical skill for this epic annual event.

Dollop Presents NYE and NYD at the Troxy

How about a double whammy of a party? Yes why not. Sometimes (always in our case) we over do it over Christmas so think about all the mince pies you could dance off by partying through two parties. Dollop is bringing their party to the capital and doing exactly that.

UK party promoters dollop return to their favourite art-deco London theatre in 2014 to host an extra special double-header – expanding into NYD too. With a stellar cast including MK, Boddika, Floating Points, Paul Woolford and Barnt (and some massive names still to be announced) spread across 48hrs, dollop are set to make a triumphant return to this East London venue.

The initial New Years Day lineup features the ultra in-demand Boddika. Having carved a name as part of pioneering duo Instra:mental, Boddika went solo to become the driving force behind his own Nonplus Records label; the man also has strong ties with Loefah’s Swamp 81, alongside Joy Orbison, with whom he collaborated on some of the biggest club tracks of recent years.

Earlybird tickets are on sale now.

No Fit State at Bloc

Sometimes we miss out on NYE celebrations and need to catch up on NYD and sometimes we realise that NYE wasn’t quite enough and No Fit State know that feeling and to make sure you don’t scare your mates with those big bags under your eyes the promoters are organising a masked party on new year’s day.

Heading up the bill is DJ Rolando, a true Detroit original and former member of cult techno collective Underground Resistance, who will no doubt be casting his spell on the crowd with the driving yet dream-like quality of his sets.Stateside icon number two comes in the form of New Jersey’s DJ Qu, an artist who was instrumental in shaping the latest NY house boom in the late noughties and is regarded by industry heads as one of the finest selectors and producers around.

Nofitstate boss and one of the scene’s leading lights Geddes will be stepping up to connect the dots between house and techno with a late night excursion through his latest crate-digging, sure to keep the party swinging between his special guests. Joining the crew will be London staple and Half Baked resident Greg Brockmann. A master of cutting edge deep house and techno with a tough yet cerebral quality, Greg is sure to be opening the ears and the minds with his futuristic underground selection. Completing the line-up is champion of deep sounds, blogger and nofitstate regular Mohson Stars from Keep It Deep.

So here you have it, EF’s party guide for the holiday season. If these don’t tickle your taste buds then don’t worry there are many, many more parties.
