C2C: Kip Moore talks UK debut & long journey to success

Day 2 of C2C: Country To Country has kicked off and Kip Moore will kick the main stage into action later this afternoon.

The rising country star has achieved impressive success with his debut album Up All Night, which was recently re-released here in the UK with several bonus tracks. Ahead of his main stage performance, Kip took some time to speak to the press.

Talking about his journey to success Kip admitted, ā€˜My journey was such a long journey. Music took over around the time I was 17. I got my first guitar and was playing constantly. I didnā€™t want to play other peopleā€™s music, I wanted to play my own music.ā€™

Has he always known that he wanted to be a musician? ā€˜I realised I wasnā€™t going to be fulfilled unless I was doing music. Iā€™ve learned a lot about myself in solitude. I learned that it would have been a fight for the rest of my life if I hadnā€™t done music.ā€™

Discussing how heā€™s feeling ahead of his C2C and UK debut Kip said, ā€˜Iā€™ve been secretly dreaming of coming over here for a long time. Iā€™m a passionate person and I have to be surrounded by passionate people. Iā€™m finally here so it means everything to me.ā€™

Today marks Kipā€™s first time performing in the UK but heā€™s already planning his return. ā€˜I can feel that somethingā€™s happening with us over here. Weā€™re not trying to follow a curveā€¦weā€™re doing our own thing. Weā€™re trying to figure out when the best time is to come back.ā€™

Kip also talked about his belief in doing his own thing rather than conforming to the current trends. ā€˜People are scared of things that are different. They want what they know works. When youā€™re outside of that formula people may believe in it but will quickly lose their backbone.ā€™

He went on to explain that that hasnā€™t always made his journey an easy one. But he was always confident heā€™d make it. ā€˜Destiny is one of those things where you feel like youā€™ve known something for a long time. Even when I was poor as poor can be ā€“ I felt like I was going to die some nights ā€“ and I moved to town itā€™s all I wanted (to be an artist). I always knew where I was going. So yes Iā€™m surprised but more than that Iā€™m grateful.ā€™

Kip Moore will perform on the C2C main stage later today.
