BBC confirms George Michael programming

BBC Radio 2 and BBC One have announced that they will broadcast world-exclusive George Michael programming.

Up Close with George Michael, a two part documentary, will air on Tuesday 18th and 25th March from 10pm to 11pm on BBC Radio 2. It was recorded in October 2011 shortly before George contracted pnuemonia. In the documentary George tells the story of his Symphonica tour and his new album of the same name.

In April, BBC One will broadcast highlights from the Symphonica concert recorded on 19th September 2012 at the Opera Garnier, Paris which was a charity fundraiser for the French HIV charity Sidaction.

George Michael says: “I’m delighted the BBC is broadcasting the Symphonica concert, which was recorded at the Opera Garnier in Paris, a stunning setting in which to perform a gig dedicated to a charity thatā€™s so close to my heart. It was a magical night, so Iā€™m thrilled that fans will get the chance to experience it, as well as hearing the behind-the-scenes story on Radio 2.ā€
