Arctic Monkeys, Haim lead NME nominations

The nominations for the NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas have been announced.

Due to take place on Wednesday 26th February at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, the awards feature 20 categories with the winners decided by music fans. Arctic Monkeys lead this year’s nominations picking up 8 including Best British Band and Best Live Band.

Haim have received 6 nominations whilst Queens of the Stone Age, Lily Allen and Arcade Fire have all picked up 3.

NME editor Mike Williams says: ā€œThe past 12 months of music have had everything ā€“ returning legends, era-defining singles, more albums with a claim to be modern classics than any year in recent memory and tons of massive live moments to celebrate. None of this has gone unnoticed by NMEā€™s huge audience, with more people than ever voting to compile these incredibly exciting shortlists. I canā€™t wait for the ceremony at the O2 Academy Brixton on February 26 to find out who the big winners will be.ā€
