Riding a wave of success following the release of Heaven in early August, Alex has produced yet another perfectly refined cut, infused with his trademark rich yet warm melody that encapsulates and entices. With Budapest, the young producer demonstrates his seemingly effortless production skills and his unparalleled ability to produce an infectious blend of relaxed electronica and upbeat dance floor filler.
EF speaks to Alex about music and future commitments.
Hi Alex, how are you today?
Yeah I’m really good thanks.
We’ve heard you were classically trained, can you tell us how you got into dance music?
Yeah, I’ve played piano from a very young age. So I first got into music from a more classical side. I think when I studied Music Technology at University was when I first started to produce Dance music.
Your single Heaven has been hitting the radio waves for a few weeks now how did the track come along?
Well it’s my follow up single to Make Me feel Better, and there are definitely some similarities between the two. The track started of with the vocal, which is another sample of a Motown record. And then I built the the production around that. It’s just a feel good, summery song.
Your music feels quite chilled, would you describe yourself that way?
Ha, sometimes. I’m quite easy going I suppose.
You’ve had a lot of success with your remixes. What do you think is important whilst remixing a song?
I think just imprinting your own style onto the track, and taking it in a different direction to the original is important. But I also like to take something from the original and use it in a different way.
What is your creative process in the studio?
I don’t really have one at all. I don’t think about what I’m doing. I just sit down in my bedroom and make music. I don’t work in a studio.
You’ve been performing at a few festivals this summer. Do you have any anecdotes or fond memories?
I haven’t been able to spend too much time at the festivals unfortunately, so no funny anecdotes. But for sure the festivals have been a great experience. Especially doing the big U.K ones like Bestival and Creamfields. I’ve really enjoyed it.
Is there an album in the pipelines and new collaborations?
Maybe
Now that festival season is almost over could you tell us what your plans are for this winter?
Working on a lot of music. Obviously the next single is the priority. I’ve got some gigs that I’m really looking forward to as well. In places like Dubai, Singapore and the U.S. So it should be busy and fun.
