Taffy – Tumbling / Boys Don’t Cry single review

Taffy are a charismatic Japanese four-piece band famous for their lively shows and pop twist on classic indie songs. The band embarked on their first UK tour last year and will be back on our sores this summer. The band’s new single is Tumbling and we had a listen.

Tumbling kicks off strong with a soaring guitar and a great melody. As soon as the vocals kick in the mood of the track changes and becomes mellower. Indeed the female vocals add a feminine touch, which gives Tumbling an interesting twist. The single is big and quite powerful in sound and we like how a guitar solo ends things.

The second side of the single is a cover of The Cure’s Boys Don’t Cry. This is Taffy’s version though therefor its big and packed with soaring guitars yet also dreamy.

Taffy are an interesting band and we are certainly curious about them. We like the single and love their cover of an English classic.
