Story Books – Too Much A Hunter EP review

Story Books are a five-piece hailing from Kent. The band made their US debut in SXSW this year and also supported King Charles during their tour. Now just before headlining their own tour and performing at festivals, Story Books are releasing their EP Too Much A Hunter. We had a listen and here are our thoughts.

First on the EP is Simple Kids and straight we are interested. The track begins with a dramatic piano and then come in the heartfelt vocals but really it all kicks off during the chorus when a guitar riff rounds everything up. Next up is Knot, which kicks off quite strongly again with its beautiful melody and an extra bit of drama that makes the track intriguing. Knot really comes to life during its chorus, which is full of power and interesting sounds.

Glory and Growth slows things down a little, the ballad is quite mellow and sweet to start with but then becomes a bigger beast until we reach its peak. Last on the album is All Those Arrows, which also kicks off quite slowly. The track also morphs into a different beast and is rather infectious.

Story Books are an interesting band and we’ll definitely keep an eye out for them. Too Much A Hunter is a good EP showcasing a snippet of what the band is capable of.
