Stereophonics are the purveyors of classic British songwriting and Kelly Jones’ lyrics are quite often intelligently written mini-stories, layered over with big, gushing guitars. Kelly’s famously distinct gravely, sexy, husky vocals dominate each track. The Stereophonics have stood the test of time, where other bands have come and gone. They are back with their eighth studio album this year, which they have called Graffiti On The Train and the first song to be taken from that album is their latest release – Indian Summer. The single marks a new phase for the unshakable band, with Kelly’s candid words at the helm of a modern but monumental guitar classic which reflects on past love. Despite our love for the band, we have to put all prejudice’s aside in order to review the track!
We are very pleased to report that Kelly’s vocals on the track are as incredible as they’ve always been. On only the second listen to this track, we’re already singing the chorus, yep – Stereophonics congrats – it’s another huge thumbs up from us, it’s an truly gorgeous and catchy track. Their talent as a band shows no sign of stopping and this track is one that could have been on any of their previous album. It’s just another classic guitar song from them, that is quite timeless.
Indian Summer is a track that the Stereophonics fans are going to love and it’s very easy on the ear. They have been confirmed to play at this years V-Festival and we would see this sort of song going down well in a field of muddy music fans! The tempo and feel of the track reminded us a bit of their song Pick a Part That’s New. It has that cool, motorcycle riding in the desert type of vibe about it.
The band remain one of our favourite ever live bands and boys, you have been missed, welcome back!! We really can’t wait to listen to their new album, after hearing Indian Summer, we hope that it’s a taster of what’s to come. It was a cold September, before the Indian Summer… try getting the song out out of your head after a few listens, we promise you that you won’t be able to! This is always the sign of a really great song.
