Sunday at the festival is designed to get you to wind down and although many might not agree it is a great way to ensure festivalgoers are fresh come Monday morning and ready to deal with the journey home.
We decided to start the day by checking out the famous Sunday paint fight and of course we weren’t the only ones trying to catch a glimpse of virgins and veterans fight each other and the result was as always very colourful.
The music on the main stage was mellower on Sunday with acts like David Rodigan and Martha Reeves and The Vandellas taking on the entertainment side of things. We weren’t interested in the music line up and instead needed to explore some more. We came across a magical wardrobe that lead into an igloo and ice rink, coz you should be able to go ice-skating any time of the year and the place wouldn’t have been complete without its very own time machine.
We then wondered of to the Ferel Fever stage which was safely nestled behind the Artful Badger Woods, where we spent a bit of time dancing and enjoying the scenery. We were dancing with pimps, princesses and fairies and laughed a lot. We ventured back into the main area where we played ping pong in a neon lit room and watched more zorbing football. The garden even welcomed royalty with Prince Harry showing up to enjoy this serious party.
The night ended calmly with the big burn of Emerald City in the center of the lake. With that The Secret Garden Party closed its magical doors once more. It was another successful year for the eccentric festival and once more it was the little touches and attention to detail that made this festival how special it is. Till next year gardeners.
