Richard and Adam are known for achieving semi-finalist status on Britain’s Got Talent last year, which saw the pair finishing in respectable third place. This exposure lead them to securing a record deal and gaining an army of fans. Richard and Adam have spent the last month or so singing up and down the country, with their Impossible Dream tour, which finished at Chelsea’s Cadogan Hall last night and we were there for the wrap. Richard and Adam looked dapper in their suits, accompanied by a pianist and a string quartet, which gave a very classy ambience and set the tone of what was about to come.
Richard and Adam’s brotherly camaraderie was seen throughout the show and they are obviously a very close family, with their Dad and Nan even getting involved in the show. At one point, we thought that their Nan was a part of the show, as she kept getting mentions with every couple of songs that they did. “Our Nan” and “Me Nan” could well be their catchphrase! Their closeness was touching and one of our favourite moments of the show was when Richard and Adam’s Dad came on the stage to sing Bring Him Home with them, from Les Miserables. This was such a lovely moment and it was clear to see where the boys get their talent from. The guest appearances didn’t stop there however, with Rhydian coming on for one song, which was a lovely surprise. Another highlight was when they got the crowd into full swing with their version of Volare and the lights beamed around the venue, adding a bit of fun.
We were treated to further special guests, with Charlotte Jaconelli taking to the stage, she looked the part and sounded great, adding a large dose of female glamour to the evening. The Cadogan Hall is a beautiful and intimate space, with which you can really appreciate the sound of those performing. The pair took their time to get into the stride of the show, which we feel were mainly down to stage nerves, but they soon warmed up and were looking more and more relaxed as the show went on. We did feel that some of the songs we felt were a little too old for them, but as they are so young, they handled them well. We do think that the operatic and classical songs suit their voices much better than the contemporary and crossover song choices, as we were able to feel the emotion behind those songs and they really lost themselves and got into every note. As the show and their confidence grew throughout the show, this reflected in a more mature sound and their powerful voices were clear to hear.
They are both equally talented, which was shown when they were both given a 5 minute solo slot each to shine, which they did. Richard and Adam can only get better with maturity and experience. They already have enormous talent and a powerful set of lungs between them and it is going to be a pleasure to listen out for their future progress. If they continue at the rate that they are currently at, we think that in a few years’ time, they are going to be sounding pretty spectacular. A standing ovation finished the night and their Impossible Dream tour off on a high.
