Nashville finally arrived back in the UK for its third season shifting from its former home More4 to the more mainstream E4. Itās been an excruciating wait for fans of the show that have had to spend the last 9 months avoiding spoilers as the full season has already aired in the US. Nevertheless the show is finally back, and renewed for a fourth season, which means that thereās plenty more music to come. To tie in with the arrival of season 3 in the UK, the first volume of music has been released from the new season.
The latest soundtrack opens with Chris Carmackās If Itās Love, a song that he performed in character as Will Lexington live on the season opener when it broadcast in the US. Itās a rousing country ballad with Carmackās vocals sounding strong and a catchy chorus. The other track that was performed live on the season 3 premiere, I Know How To Love You Now by Charles Esten, is also featured here.
Hayden Panettiere only has one track featured on this release due to her real-life pregnancy, which was written into the show but resulted in the actress having a reduced role for most of the season. Disappear is one of the songs that makes the most impact and itās no surprise that itās one of the finest on this release.
Elsewhere on the album Connie Britton and Laura Benanti team up for the girl buddy anthem Gasoline and Matches, Chris Carmack and Aubrey Peeples team up for the emotive If Your Heart Can Handle It, and Clare Bowen shines on the bluesy Carry On with guest star Mykelti Williamson. Will Chase brings the swagger on the uptempo country blues of Good Woman ā Good To Me, and Connie Britton surprises on the defiant Lies of the Lonely.
Three seasons in and Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio are still serving up the magic. The duo close the album with the acoustic When You Open Your Eyes. The writers have kept the two characters Scarlett and Gunnar apart a lot in recent times, which has meant they havenāt shared many songs together. Season 3 sees the two crossing over much more and weāre hoping for plenty more songs like this little beauty.
Nashville season 3 volume 1 serves up plenty of gems from the first set of the seasonās episodes but itās disappointingly short at only 10 tracks. Still itās better than nothing at all and we hope another soundtrack is on the way in the coming months with more music. Until then though weāll play this one to death, enjoy finally seeing the new season and begin our countdown to season 4.
