Mutya Keisha Siobhan – Flatline single review

When news first surfaced that the original Sugababes were reuniting to record again as a trio we were sceptical. With the history between the three members, we werenā€™t entirely sure that there would be harmony the second time round but it seems we were wrong. Now known as Mutya Keisha Siobhan the trio have been hard at work on their forthcoming album and have created quite the buzz. Flatline is the first single from them but does it live up to the hype?

Flatine is the kind of track that you could imagine Mutya Keisha Siobhan recording as a follow-up to their debut album as the Sugababes One Touch. On first listen the track doesnā€™t leave a lasting impression but after repeated listens you start to understand just how clever the track is. Allowing each of the girls a chance to shine vocally, the strength of the track comes when the trio harmonises. Itā€™s a moment where shivers go down your spine and youā€™re taken back to how great the Sugababes used to be when they started out.

Mutya Keisha Siobhan can definitely chalk Flatline down as a success. It quietly creeps up on you and its genius is that you wonā€™t be able to stop singing it once youā€™ve heard it a few times. Words cannot describe how good it is to hear these three women singing together once again. Based on the evidence of Flatline (which is an apt title considering the latest incarnation of the Sugababes seem to have done just that) Mutya Keisha Siobhan are going to own 2014 when their album is released.
