Lisa Stansfield made a long-awaited return to the charts this year with her new album Seven, her first in a decade. The album was preceded by lead single Canāt Dance, which reintroduced Stansfield to her long-time, fans and picked her up some new ones along the way. The album entered the UK charts at 13 and after three singles itās been re-released as a double disc entitled Seven+.
Seven+ features the original album on the first disc along with new single There Goes My Heart, which has been added to the tracklisting. The track was debuted during Stansfieldās recent UK tour and itās a soulful disco-tinged track that showcases the singer at her best. Her distinctive voice swoops and soars through the melody and itās a strong single release.
The second disc of the release features 15 remixes of tracks from the original album. It opens with the Cool Million 83 Mix of Canāt Dance, which is one of five remixes of the track featured on the disc. Highlights on the disc include the Cahill Remix of So Be It which reimagines the track as a contemporary floor filler, the funky house grooves of the Opolopo Remix of Picket Fence and the R&B feel of the Cool Million Remix of The Crown. Thereās also the 24/7 remix of You Canāt Deny It from Stansfieldās classic Affection album.
Our favourite remix is the Heartful Dodger Remix of There Goes My Heart. It adds a stronger dancefloor feel to the track and itās bound to get you up on the floor and dancing.
Seven was already one of the yearās best album releases but the release of Seven+ makes it even better. The second disc of remixes features some great twists on the original tracks and it could definitely soundtrack your party over the festive season this year. Stansfield is an absolute legend and if you havenāt got Seven yet then youāve no excuse. Get your copy of Seven+ and you wonāt regret it.
