Lady Antebelleum – The Brooklyn Bowl, London live review

Lady Antebellum are without a doubt one of the biggest country acts in the world. Since their breakthrough hit Need You Now in 2009, the band has gone on to sell millions of records worldwide. To date theyā€™ve released 5 studio albums and a festive collection. Last week they released their brand new album 747 and last night the trio performed a special intimate launch show at The Brooklyn Bowl in London.

Last nightā€™s show was a double celebration as Lady Antebellum was also announced as one of the headliners for Country To Country 2015 just hours before they took to the stage for their show. Arriving on stage a little after 8.30pm, Lady Antebellum opened the show with Long Stretch of Love, the first track from new album 747.

The setlist was a mixture of songs from their back catalogue along with selections from 747. Band member Charles Kelley expressed his amazement as fans sang every single word to all of the new tracks and the whole band looked pretty overwhelmed. Of the new songs Freestyle was an uptempo highlight that got the crowd dancing and an acoustic performance of One Great Mystery showcased those incredibly tight harmonies the band is known for.

Elsewhere in the set they performed early fan favourites such as I Run To You and Love Donā€™t Live Here. American Honey was one of the best moments of the evening with the audience taking on singing duties for a good portion of the song. The band also threw in a cover of the Avicii and Aloe Blacc hit Wake Me Up that they put their own take on.

The encore packed a punch with the band performing their signature hit Need You Now and closing with 747, the title track of their new album.

Lady Antebellum received an incredible reaction from the audience last night and they hit the mark with their setlist and performance. At the heart of their set was tight harmonies and their band injected great energy into the evening. With Lady Antebellum set to return to the UK in March 2015 to headline Country To Country, we have a feeling that last nightā€™s show was just a taster of what we can expect when they take to the stage at The O2 Arena.
