On the latest episode of Lethal Weapon, Riggs (Clayne Crawford) and Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) had to protect Leo Getz (Thomas Lennon).
Joe Pesci made the character of Leo Getz famous in the original Lethal Weapon movies. The character has been changed for the TV show and has more in common with Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
The episode opened up with a meeting at a donut shop. Leo Getz, an ambulance-chasing attorney, was meeting with his client to finalise a deal with the DEA. Leo popped to the loo and came out to find everyone dead and the place shot to pieces. Instead of sticking around he grabbed his briefcase and ran.
Riggs and Murtaugh arrived on the scene and discovered that Agent Palmer (Hilarie Burton) was also on the case. Murtaugh felt there was something between Palmer and Riggs and tried to encourage it. He realised that Riggs was scared of the idea of a relationship.
Riggs spotted a homeless woman across the street and went to find out if she saw anything. She told them about Getz and then spotted him getting on a bus. Riggs and Murtaugh tracked him down at a hospital giving out his business cards to injured people. They spoke to him but he refused to help.
Next Leo tried to talk to the cartel who shot up the donut shop. He did so via a taco trcuk that they used as a front. While there the cartel made an attempt on his life but Riggs, Murtaugh and Palmer were able to keep him safe.
Palmer told them about someone known as The Architect that she was after. The taco truck guy was taken in for questioning and he let slip that Palmer was supposed to die at the donut shop. Riggs tried to call Palmer to warn her and he and Murtaugh headed out to her.
The cartel made an attempt on her life but she was saved by her bulletproof vest. Riggs checked on her while Murtaugh tackled one of the gunmen. They brought him in and he spoke about something that Palmer had done that upset the cartel.
Murtaugh took Leo to a safe hotel while Riggs settled down to help Palmer go through old case files. Later, Riggs ordered an insane amount of Chinese food but when he came back with it, Palmer was sleeping. He covered her up with his jacket. The next morning when Murtaugh arrived they were back at it and thought they had identified The Architect.
Palmer went for an arrest warrant while Riggs and Murtaugh went after the man. They found him shot dead in a lift. Leo witnessed two men kidnapping Palmer and decided to follow them himself. On the way he called Riggs and Murtaugh for help.
They arrived as a helicopter landed to pickup Palmer. Without a thought for his safety Riggs managed to grab onto it as it took off. In the air he had to fight off a man trying to shoot him and eventually pulled him out of the helicopter.
Inside he checked on Palmer and then shot the pilot. Not the best idea. The helicopter began plummeting to the ground so Riggs and Palmer took a chance and jumped out. They crashed through the roof of a building and landed next to each other on a double bed.
At the precinct, Riggs avoided Palmer by hiding in the morgue. Murtaugh found him and told him he thought he was hiding. Riggs went back to his desk but Palmer was gone. Suddenly she came back because she forgot something.
She admitted to Riggs that working with him wasn’t entirely unenjoyable and he agreed. She left again but he caught her at the lift and joined her inside. When the doors opened they were sharing a kiss!
Elsewhere in the episode, Trish (Keesha Sharp) impulsively quit her job after failing to get a promotion. Roger was surprised and worried at her news. Leo told him not to worry but didn’t explain why.
At the end of the episode, a bus went past Roger and Trish with a new advertisement for Leo Getz. On it he had also included a photo of Trish as his new business partner. They were both not impressed.
