Lucy Spraggan rose to fame during last year’s X Factor but now the singer-songwriter has just scored her first hit single Lighthouse.
Openly gay, Spraggan is featured on the cover of this month’s issue of DIVA and opens up during an interview with the magazine. She talks about how the X Factor initially tried to make her change image saying, āMy music relates to my personality, itās honest and itās my opinion, so changing the way I look would massively conflict against that. Itās a hard thing to have people wanting you to change the way you look, but the right mind-set and the ability to say āNoā when you need to will go a long way.ā
She also opens up about her thoughts on stars who choose to stay in the closet, ‘āThatās their choice to make and theyāll have their various reasons. Even if itās a marketing thing, I think they should get a bit more praise for appreciating and wanting to help maintain their career. It shouldnāt be an issue for anyone, to come out, but it is for some people. And thatās their decision.ā
The new issue of DIVA is out now in all major retailers and digitally on www.divadigital.co.uk. Check out Lucy on the cover below:
