Aaron Milo interview

Aaron Milo has been a firmĀ Gay FocusĀ favourite since we discovered him in last year’sĀ Eating Out: Drama Camp.

This week saw the release of the latestĀ Eating OutĀ movieĀ The Open WeekendĀ on DVD so we thought we’d catch up with Aaron to find out more about it.

In our interview Aaron talks aboutĀ Eating Out’sĀ skimpy wardrobe, gives us his views on gay marriage and reveals his future plans.

How are you today?

Fantastic…a little hungry.Ā  Iā€™m always hungry.Ā Ā  Be right back.Ā  Grabbing food.

ā€˜Eating Out: The Open Weekendā€™ is arriving in the UK on DVD. Tell us about the movie.

Back.Ā  Well, at the end of the previous movie,Ā Drama Camp,Ā  a group of us win a free vacation to Palm Springs.Ā  My character, Benji, decides that he wants to have an ā€œopen relationshipā€ just for the weekend with his boyfriend Zack.Ā Ā  Letā€™s just say our characters have different ideas of the direction they want to take in the relationship.

We see a bit of a change in Benji this time around. Was it fun to play with the more mischievous side of his character?

Itā€™s always fun to be a little mischievous.

Youā€™ve traded in the purple pants for tiny swimming trunks this time round. Do you get nervous about wearing so little on camera?

The first day on set was a little awkward, I think we all felt a bit naked…but it did help that we were on location in Palm Springs…where everyone is out enjoying the sun.Ā  You just get so comfortable and used to having swim trunks on that it feels like work to put on clothes for a scene.

Are you as forward as Benji or are you a little more subtle when making a move on someone?

There are a lot of variables that have to come into consideration here.

Would you be open to doing more instalments in the ā€˜Eating Outā€™ series?

Itā€™s a posssssibility.

Gay marriage is a hot topic across the globe at the moment and itā€™s touched upon in ā€˜The Open Weekendā€™. What are your views on the topic?

To me, it just feels like a natural progression in society that is inevitable.Ā  I feel you should be allowed to commit to anyone you want if thatā€™s something you want…and that laws are still in place to keep that from happening just seems so…ridiculous.

Aaron Milo

Youā€™ve been entertaining your fans with your ā€˜Made In Miloā€™ web series. Where did that idea come from?

Iā€™ve been playing around with videos since I was 10 and got my first computer.Ā  My attention span runs short, so being able to piece images of video together and create something gives me a kind of instant gratification that channels my creative energy and is very therapeutic.

Your general all-round hotness has inspired what we like to call ā€˜Milo Watchā€™ on our Gay Focus section. How do you find all the attention you receive for your looks and physique?

Itā€™s funny, because I donā€™t feel the same as Iā€™m perceived.Ā  I definitely feel like a dork…I mean…I am a dork.Ā  Wait…why am I trying to prove that Iā€™m a dork?Ā  Thatā€™s another reason I createdĀ Made in Milo, I really wanted to show the more real and human side to being an actor living in Hollywood.

What plans do you have for the rest of the year?

I am modeling for a character in a comic-book adaptation ofĀ Sleepy HollowĀ calledĀ The Vengeance of Sleepy Hollow…it will be a 6 issue spreadout next Fall.Ā Ā  Other than that…I donā€™t have anything set in stone yet, but I would love to do a television sitcom.Ā  I will be sure to let you know when my next project is finalized!

‘Eating Out: The Open Weekend’ is available on DVD now through TLA Releasing.
