Cubical Drift launch Kickstarter for Planets³

Independent studio Cubical Drift have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the development of their first game project – Planets³.

Planets³ is a beautifully presented, unique mix of adventure, RPG, dungeon crawler and building. Set in a multi-player universe, players can shape their own adventure and visit multiple planets, each composed of nearly 30 trillion blocks. Truly breath-taking landscapes and environments will be achieved through voxel-based graphics created using the Ogre game engine.

Progress through the game is achieved by levelling-up your character, embarking on various story-driven quests, tool-building and habitation and vehicle crafting. All of these things contribute to ever-deeper exploration of the planets in the vast universe.

Planets³ also offers side quests allowing players to unlock secrets of the game’s world and to find special items only reachable in secondary storylines.

Currently the game is only 10% of the way through development. However many of the game design elements are complete, and the graphic identity and the long distance display engine.

The contributions achieved through the Planets³ Kickstarter campaign – whose goal is set at $250,000 – will allow for the studio to tackle the remaining 90%, with the priorities going to development and animation.

Planets³
We wanted to use Planets³ Kickstarter because it’s the number one in crowdfunding business. With its incredible presence, high visibility and strong community of experienced backers, Planets³ Kickstarter was the only choice for our ambitious title. Most importantly, it gets us in touch with our backers so that we can form a meaningful community with the would-be Planets³ adventurers, and involve them closely in the games’ development.
The game is targeted to launch on PC in Autumn 2015, with the first part of the adventure: Planets³: Race to Space. For more information on the game check out the official Planets³ website.
