Blizzard announce World of Warcraft Classic at BlizzCon 2017

In addition to the news about World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, the seventh expansion to the game, Blizzard had a very special announcement for fans who have been playing since the beginning.

During the BlizzCon 2017 opening ceremony, Blizzard’s J. Allen Brack announced World of Warcraft Classic. This project seems to be in response to the years of pressure from fans who wanted to go back and play World of Warcraft like it was when it launched back in 2004.

For years fans have been trying to build their own private World of Warcraft vanilla servers using leaked tools. Blizzard has never allowed private servers so has been in constant battle to shut them down. There has been a huge appetite from old fans to go back to how the game used to be as well as new players wanting to experience the original game for the first time.

Not a lot is known yet about how World of Warcraft Classic will work. As a launch day player I can’t wait to go back and enjoy the game again in it’s original form.

Would official vanilla servers tempt you back to World of Warcraft? Let us know in the comments!
