Oscar winners list 2013

The 2013 Academy Awards have been announced in Hollywood. Argo took the top prize as ‘Best Film’ and makes history by claiming the award whilst not having a ‘Best Director’ nomination. Not that this dampened the mood of Ben Affleck who gratefully thanked ‘everyone who worked on the film’ whilst paying tribute to his wife, actress Jennifer Garner.

Speaking of history, Daniel Day Lewis made it by becoming the first actor to ever walk away with three ‘Best Actor’ awards. Jennifer Lawrence saw off tough opposition to pick up the ‘Best Actress’ award but didn’t manage to avoid a stumble on the stairs when accepting her award.

Adele won ‘Best Song’ for her haunting Bond theme, Skyfall and there was a surprise on the cards with Ang Lee picking up ‘Best Director’ instead of the hotly-tipped Steven Spielberg. Elsewhere there were noteworthy wins for Christoph Waltz, Anne Hathaway and the ‘Best Foreign Film’ went to Amour.
