Film4 FrightFest: Day 2 film picks

Film4 FrightFest is well underway following last night’s opening gala which saw The Dead 2: India, Curse of Chucky and You’re Next kick off the proceedings.

Today is the second day of the horror-fest and there are some great films on show.

We’ve selected our must-see films for the day so take a look and decide which ones you’re going to see too!

Dementamania (12.45pm)

Our first pick of the day is the UK horror Dementamania which stars former Coronation Street and Beaver Falls actor Sam Robertson. The film takes place on Friday 13th and follows software analyst Edward Arkham whose day goes from bad to worse when a wasp sting begins a string of events that lead to a bloody and violent climax.

Hatchet III (4.15pm)

The third instalment of the popular Hatchet series is getting its UK premiere later today. Starring Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder, the film is certain to be gore-filled. This time round Marybet uncovers the secret to stopping the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of deformed maniac Victor Crowley haunting and stalking the Honey Island swamplands.

Haunter (6.45pm)

Abigail Breslin is all grown up in director Vincenzo Natali’s new feature. She plays Lisa Johnson, a girl who is about to turn 16, and finds herself living her last day of being alive over and over again. Killed by the Haunter in 1985, Lisa and her family go through the same routine that led them to their untimely deaths until Lisa becomes aware of Olivia, a new girl who lives in their house and is the next target.

V/H/S 2 (9.15pm)

V/H/S was a huge hit at last year’s festival so we’re sure this sequel will get a packed audience today. Two private investigators break into the abanadoned house of a missing college student uncovering a collection of mysterious videotapes. The four films lead them to a shocking resolution for their case.

100 Bloody Acres (11.30pm)

Austrailian movie 100 Bloody Acres is a horror/comedy that will receive its UK premiere today. The film tells the story of Reg Morgan, a man who runs an organic bone fertiliser business in the outback with his bullying older brother Lindsay. After discovering that liquidised human corpses are the key to beating their competitors, the brothers seek out new victims for their mincing machine.

Which films are you looking forward to on Day 2 of Film4 FrightFest? Let us know by leaving your comments in the usual place. We reckon it’s going to be a stellar second day.
