Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past), is coming to cinema’s in December. It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for Ubisoft’s popular game series to make the jump to film.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. As you can see in the trailer above it looks like every effort has been made to stay faithful to the game. The outfits, setting, combat and parkour style movement appear to have all made it. Not surprisingly the sinister Abstergo Industries and their Animus virtual reality machine will also be involved.

Michael Fassbender is set to play Callum Lynch / Aguilar. French actress Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises) is set to star alongside him as Sophia Rikkin. Jeremy Irons will be playing her father Alan Rikkin, the CEO of Abstergo Industries.

The film is directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth) and produced by New Regency, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, DMC Films and Kennedy/Marshall, with 20th Century Fox distributing.
