10 things that happened at Lost Village 2017

Last weekend, I was one of the very lucky few to enjoy the incredibly sunny Lost Village and am still in feeling in a daze after these three magical days. Much magic unfolded and here is my top ten things that happened over the course of the weekend.

1. Chasing forest pixies

Lost Village is an immersive festival, which means the entire place is packed with surprises that aren’t just music related. This year the story focused around the forest’s survival as the ‘Gate Keeper’ took over from the forest’s rightful owners. I chased a pixie that was hugging a tree in the forest and was sworn to secrecy as she revealed what was happening.

2. The Resistance

The Resistance was leading the charge against the Gate Keeper and its members could only be identified by a triangular mark. Only the pure could keep the mark it was said. I was completely engrossed in the story to the point that I sparked conversations with other festival goers, who wore the mark of the Resistance.

3. Lake spectacle

The Lost Village story culminated on the last day during the fireworks display. Not content with just dazzling festival goers with light, Lost Village organisers entertained everyone by the lake with a huge spectacle, which included dancers, a story being recounted and acrobatics.

4. Dancing

Lost Village is also about the music and most of it is centred around the joy that is dancing and so most of us did. We danced in fields, in the forest, in hay, by lost cabins, by abandoned chapels. There was disco, hip hop, hard house, funky house and cheesy pop. Any dance fanatic would have found a place that matched his or her taste buds.

5. Hay fights

Most nights ended in the same way at the hay bar, where a large part of festival goers would dance to cheesy pop and throw hay at each other. I enjoyed watching how carefree people appeared to be. It was pure joy!

6. Secret doors

I am mildly annoyed at this secret door that people kept mentioning as it eluded me throughout the festival. The secret door was hidden away by the lake and only opened once a day. If you were lucky enough to be there when it opened you were taken to secret underground bar.

7. Cabaret

If like me you like your festivals with a bit of flair and magic then you would have probably enjoyed the cabaret show that took place deep in the forest. It included circus acrobatics and sensual dancing, which many festival goers decided to stay for.

8. Loyle Carner’s set

Loyle Carner has been making waves lately and rightly so. The freshly Mercury Prize nominated hip hop artist, has toured with Nas, Joey Badass and collaborated with Kate Tempest during her tour. His set at Lost Village was everything I could have hoped for, poised, passionate and full of good beats.

9. Jackmaster’s set

Jackmaster headlined at the Burial Ground on Saturday night. His set, which started off mellow became harder and heavier. His tracks were well chosen and all blended beautifully and it was incredible to hear classics in a way that they felt new.

10. 2 Many Dj’s secret forest party

On Thursday night a few lucky festival goers could attend a very secret 2 Many Djs set in the forrest. To attend you had to have won tickets via Amazon and arrive at Lost Village before 5pm. The set was incredible and included guest DJs, which dazzled the lucky crowd.

There were many more amazing things that occurred at Lost Village but not all stories are for telling some are for living.

Lost Village festival took place in Lincolnshire between 24th – 27th August.
