Oedipus Retold interview

Robert Gillespie and Clare Cameron spoke to us about their major new production, Oedipus Retold, which hits the Tristan Bates Theatre on 14th January.

Oedipus Retold is written by Jeremy Kingston, the wit behind their smash hit earlier this year, Making Dickie Happy.

In Oedipus Retold, Kingston re-examines Sophocles’ story and ponders – what if instead of killing his father, Oedipus had struck up a conversation with the old man?

Oedipus Retold runs from 14th January through to 8th February and tickets are on sale now through the Tristan Bates website.

You can follow Clare Cameron on Twitter @1ClareCameron, keep up to date with Robert Gillespie’s company, Jane Nightwork Productions, @JaneNightwork, and follow the show @OedipusX2.

Check out our interview with the director and star below where we learn how to tackle a role like Jocasta, what it’s like returning to the Tristan Bates Theatre, and why authority figures should always be questioned!
