Conviction 1×07 A Simple Man preview

In the latest episode of Conviction, the CIU team reviewed the case of black activist Porscha Williams, she was convicted of shooting and killing a cop during a protest. They chose to take the case after a black teenager was killed by a cop.

The team were able to determine that witnesses has been confused between Porscha and another girl at the protest. A key witness who claimed to see her shoot the cop was found to by lying thanks to a photo showing him vandalising a police car a block away. Also a review of the evidence showed that the cop was shot from behind meaning that Porscha couldn’t have done it.

Eventually it turned out that another witness was the culprit and he fled when confronted by Maxine (Merrin Dungey) and Sam (Shawn Ashmore). They caught up with him and he pulled a gun. Maxine tried to talk him down and seemed to be getting through to him before he suddenly turned it on himself and committed suicide.
