In the latest episode of Conviction Hayes Morrison (Hayley Atwell) and the CIU decided to review one of Wallace’s (Eddie Cahill) career-making cases.
The case in question was called the Prospect 3, where three boys – Brian, Mike and Seamus – had been charged for the rape and assault of a woman named Zadie Daniels. During the assault she had been hit in the head with a brick which had prevented her from recalling the event.
A review of the evidence turned up problems with the interrogation of the boys. The police had led them with information and they had each blamed each other. Despite no DNA evidence linking them to the crime they had been imprisoned. Wallace had discovered that Brian had a past history of attacking females, including a foster sister.
Further investigation turned up that the timeline of events of Zadie and the boys didn’t add up. Instead Hayes discovered that Zadie had left work with a male colleague. He was married but revealed that he had sex with Zadie on the night in question.
Hayes was able to prove that Zadie had lied and that Brian was the culprit. This meant that Mike and Seamus were set free but Zadie’s reputation would be ruined.
The next episode of the season is Dropping Bombs. The CIU review the case of a controversial political activist serving a life sentence for bombing a mosque.
